0.9.23, 2026.2 Support, Plans & Licensing

Updated: 15 Jul 2026

Introduction #

We now provide two major versions of Notch Builder:

  • 2026.2 (formerly known as 1.0) - this is our current, fully supported product which has reached GOLD status.
  • 0.9.23 - our legacy product is now being sunset, with general support ending at the end of July 2026.

Notch 2026.2 is the result of over five years of development and an extensive closed & open beta period, delivering significant advances in capability and usability.

Notch 1.0 was the product name used during the beta period. As of the 2026.1 release, we moved to a new, clearer calendar-based naming convention. Projects can be safely upgraded to 2026.2 from 1.0 builds.

0.9.23 is our legacy product, which is still stable, reliable and production-tested through years of continuous use by thousands of users. It is no longer being actively developed but support remains until the end of July 2026 (for current Base, Pro, RFX subscribers), after which there will only be show-critical technical support* for those holding RFX or Playback licenses.

Should I use 0.9.23 or 2026.2 for my project? #

Start all new projects in 2026.2. Version 0.9.23 is now coming to the end of support. 2026.2 is actively being used on projects worldwide and has proven reliable and stable in production environments.

If your project is already underway on 0.9.23, or you have an existing live production running on 0.9.23, you can confidently finish it on 0.9.23. Read more about our support plans for 0.9.23.

Projects created in Notch 1.0 can be safely opened and upgraded in 2026.2.

Accessing 0.9.23 #

You can still run 0.9.23 & open projects via three methods:

  • An active RFX subscription – long term access & extended show-critical* support.
  • Any existing legacy Base or Pro flexible subscription – with show-critical* technical support until 31st Dec 2026.
  • An End of Life Perpetual Base 0.9.23 Access License – ideal for opening historic projects, but not for live performance use or new project development - and does not come with support.

End of Life Perpetual Base 0.9.23 Access License #

To help long-standing 0.9.23 Base users to access their historical project files, we are offering an End of Life Perpetual Base 0.9.23 Access License.

This license is intended for opening legacy projects (for example, to re-render them to video). It is not for live performance use or new project development.
The license also does not include any form of technical support.

If you need to use 0.9.23 for live performance, or you require technical support, you must use 0.9.23 with an RFX license (or an existing Base/Pro subscription).

This license costs between £0 - £1,000 (as a sliding scale) depending on your individual account’s spend on Base/Pro/VFX/RFX subscriptions in the last 24 months.

Check eligibility & pricing, review the terms, and purchase the license here

License Compatibility #

Below outlines the compatibility of licenses with 0.9.23 and 2026.x software.

Notch 2026.x and 0.9.23 require separate installers, which you can find in our downloads section.
To access 0.9.23 with an RFX license, you must use the latest 0.9.23 installer (0.9.23.255).
To use your RFX license to play back older 0.9.23 Blocks (up to 4K), you must have exported the blocks with 0.9.23.254 or later. If you run an older 0.9.23 exported Notch block in a media server (at under 4K) while using an RFX dongle for play out, and get a watermark with an RFX license, then you probably need to re-export the block with the latest 0.9.23 release.

Legacy Plans (Base/Pro) #

As of 3rd February 2026, new Base & Pro subscriptions are no longer available for purchase.

If you are already on a legacy plan Base or Pro plan, you can continue to use the subscription until the end of December 2026 under the same terms. Your subscription still operates as a Flexible Subscription so you can continue to upgrade and downgrade between Base and Pro plans throughout this time.

At the end of December 2026, you will need to move to one of our new plans. We will be in touch to help you with this transition closer to the time.

If you wish to move to a new plan earlier, you can do so by getting in touch with our sales team at support@notch.one.

Important: If you are within your 6 month minimum term, you will need to wait for the completion of this term before migrating to a new monthly plan. However, you can move to an annual plan at any time.

Options for PLE License Owners #

Notch 2026.x has a much more capable trial version that you can use instead of the PLE license. This is where you should continue your journey with Notch 2026.

PLE users were also contacted in early 2025 with an upgrade offer to Notch Indie.

0.9.23 Sunset Plan #

Now that 2026.x is in Gold status, we are continuing the previously published 0.9.23 sunset plan:

  • On 3rd February we released 0.9.23.255, the final public maintenance build. We strongly recommend all 0.9.23 users upgrade to it.
  • There will be no further public builds of 0.9.23
  • Technical support will continue for 0.9.23 on all subscription plans (Base/Pro/VFX/RFX) until the end of July 2026.
  • As of 1st August 2026, show-critical technical support* for 0.9.23 will be available, only for Base, Pro, RFX and longstanding Playback holders only.
  • As of 1st January 2027, show-critical technical support* for 0.9.23 will be available, only for RFX and longstanding Playback holders only.

Show-critical Technical Support Definition #

The definition of show-critical issues on 0.9.23 include:

  • Issues that are preventing an existing 0.9.23 show/production’s blocks/standalone from running
  • Licensing issues

It excludes:

  • 0.9.23 projects delivering non-realtime/pre-rendered content
  • New 0.9.23 productions/projects started after 1st August 2026
  • Alterations to existing 0.9.23 projects
  • PLE projects

Notch will provide fair & reasonable support for show-critical issues, but cannot guarantee a resolution, especially in changing environments (e.g. new operating system releases/updates, new graphics drivers, new hardware etc).
