NVIDIA SDKs

Updated: 5 Oct 2026

Introduction #

The following nodes require the installation of the Video Effects and AR SDKs from NVIDIA’s Broadcast SDKs to function correctly:

Both the Video Effects and AR SDKs can be found here.

To guarantee that you install the correct SDK versions for your machine, please make sure you read the information below.

Caveats to NVIDIA SDK installation #

There are two important things to make sure are correct when installing the NVIDIA SDKs onto your machine:

  1. You have the correct SDK version installed for your GPU
  2. The SDK is installed in the correct folder

Failing to get either of these correct will result in the features not working.

2026.1 Update #

Prior to Notch 2026.1, it was not possible to use NVIDIA AR SDK 0.8.7. This version of the SDK was not backwards compatible with previous versions, meaning that updating the SDK would cause older Notch projects and blocks to stop working. As a result, AR SDK-dependent features could not be used on 50-series NVIDIA cards, as these cards only support NVIDIA AR SDK 0.8.7.

We now have a solution that allows both the older SDK and SDK 0.8.7 to be installed at the same time.

The older version of the SDK remains in its original location (“NVIDIA AR SDK”), while SDK 0.8.7 is installed in a new, separate folder (“NVIDIA AR SDK 087”). Notch will always check the new folder first and, if SDK 0.8.7 is available, use that version. If it is not present, Notch will fall back to the original SDK folder and use the older version.

This means that blocks exported from builds prior to 2026.1 will continue to look only in the original SDK folder and use the older SDK version, just as they always have.

Blocks exported from 2026.1 and later can instead use SDK 0.8.7 from the new folder when it is available, while still falling back to the older SDK if necessary

  • Older versions of the AR SDK will still be located in the same folder as they always were (C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\NVIDIA AR SDK). And old versions of Notch will still look there for the SDKs.
  • Newer versions of Notch will now look in the folder C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\NVIDIA AR SDK 087 for the AR SDK, so the newer SDK must be installed there.
Exported blocks are not tied to a specific SDK version. As long as the required SDKs are installed correctly on the playback machine, blocks exported from a machine with any SDK configuration should play back correctly.

How To Install The NVIDIA SDKs #

Make sure any instances of Notch or Launcher are closed for installing SDKS.

Video Effects SDK #

The Video Effects SDK is currently backwards compatible. So simply install the latest version that is compatible with your GPU from here.

AR SDK #

Going forward, Notch will be using the latest NVIDIA AR SDK (currently 0.8.7). To install:

  • Download the AR SDK 0.8.7 from here.
  • Install the AR SDK
  • Go to C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation
  • Change the name of the folder “NVIDIA AR SDK” to “NVIDIA AR SDK 087”
The 0.8.7 AR SDK must be in the folder C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\NVIDIA AR SDK 087 for it to work. If it is in NVIDIA AR SDK then it will not work.

To install both the 0.8.7 AR SDK, and an older version:

  • Install 0.8.7 as above
  • Then install the older version, leaving the folder the same name

So the 0.8.7 AR SDK will be located in C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\NVIDIA AR SDK 087

The older AR SDK will be located in C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\NVIDIA AR SDK

Machines with both SDK versions installed will use the NVIDIA AR SDK 0.8.7 by default. The exception is blocks exported from builds prior to 2026.1, which will always use the SDK installed in the original “NVIDIA AR SDK” folder.

FAQ #

I have a 50-series and want to face track - what do you have to do

50-series cards are only compatible with AR version 0.8.7, so you need to install version 0.8.7 of the AR SDK as instructed above.

I have a 40-series, but my media server is 50-series - what do you have to do

Blocks are not tied to a specific SDK version. So as long as you have the correct SDKs installed in the right folder on the media server, your block should play back fine.
