CSV/Table Array

CSV/Table Array

Generate an Array using a CSV file as a source.

Method #

This reads an array of transforms from a table resource. The array is used to instance the child subtree of the node - so the subtree / children are re-rendered for every transform in the array. The number of elements in the array will match the number of rows (Table) or items (Flat list) in the table.

See the Array Sources node to see how this node is used in the nodegraph to multi-instance child nodes.

Each transform channel (position, rotation, scale) can be:

  • attached to a column of the table (in Table mode)
  • step offset for each item
  • be kept constant
Large CSV tables can be slow to update. Consider using the “Static Data - No Dynamic Updates” option if the CSV and channel data is static.

The output transform array may be used directly with a Clone To Transform Array, or to clone other nodes within a Field System or Particle System.

These properties control the 3D transforms of the node. Transforms will generally be inherited by child nodes, although they can be ignored through the Inherit Transform Channels attributes.

Position XMove along the local x-axis.
Position YMove along the local y-axis.
Position ZMove along the local z-axis.
Rotation HeadingRotate around the local y-axis.
Rotation PitchRotate around the local x-axis.
Rotation BankRotate around the local z-axis.
Scale XScale along the local x-axis.
Scale YScale along the local y-axis.
Scale ZScale along the local z-axis.

Toggle which transform channels should be inherited from the parent node. By default, all transforms will be inherited.

Position XToggle inheritance of the X Position from the parent.
Position YToggle inheritance of the Y Position from the parent.
Position ZToggle inheritance of the Z Position from the parent.
Rotation HeadingToggle inheritance of the Rotation Heading from the parent.
Rotation PitchToggle inheritance of the Rotation Pitch from the parent.
Rotation BankToggle inheritance of the Rotation Bank from the parent.
Scale XToggle inheritance of the X Scale from the parent.
Scale YToggle inheritance of the Y Scale from the parent.
Scale ZToggle inheritance of the Z Scale from the parent.
World Position OnlyInherit the world position from the parent only, rotation and scale will be ignored. Overrides above properties.
Inherit TimeToggle inheritance of time from the parent.

These properties control the core behaviours of the node.

CSV FileThe table resource.
Table Layout
  • Flat List : A row of separated values.
  • Table : Row per point: The more traditional 2D table layout
  • Verity Drones : Loads the positional data from a verity drone system.
CSV Entries Per TransformUsed for 1D/Flat List setups, where you need to specify the number of CSV instances per transform instance
Apply Node Transforms To Array Elements OnlyWhen Enabled, transform changes applied to this nodes transform properties will also be applied to the array elements, and carried onto any nodes this data is used.
Position ConversionConversion type:
  • None : No conversion
  • LatLon To Cartesian : Convert from latitude/longitude to cartesian coordinates.
Rotation ConversionConversion type:
  • None : No conversion
  • Degrees To Radians : Convert from degrees to radians.
Static Data - No Dynamic UpdatesThe array data is only processed once, not per frame.

These properties control how the csv data is used to generate the array.

Channel Source - Position/Rotation/Scale X/Y/Z
  • Constant : Set all the values for this attribute as a single constant value.
  • Stepped : Step the position by the Channel Offset for each entry.
CSV Index - Position X/Y/ZBehavior depends on Table Layout:
  • Table : The column that holds the data (First column = 0)
  • Flat List : The index of the item in the separated values (First item = 0)
Channel Offset - Position X/Y/ZOffsets by the given amount (regardless of CSV Data, Constant, Stepped)
Channel Scale - Position X/Y/ZBehavior depends on Channel Source:
  • CSV Data : Scales the table value by this amount
  • Constant : No effect
  • Stepped : Step increases the value for every instance by this value
