Field Lighting

Field Lighting

Adds lighting and self shadowing to fields from light nodes.

Method #

This node adds lighting and self shadowing to fields based on input light nodes. It is used in conjunction with the Field Renderer node, which renders the field volume. Affecting lights need to be connected to Lights input of the Field Lighting node, and translucent shadows from the field it are applied on a per-voxel basis.

The node should be parented to a Field Root node.

This node is computationally heavy, and you might consider alternatively using the Field Shadows node which is computationally faster, but only supports lighting from a cardinal axis.

Parameters

These properties control the 3D transforms of the node. Transforms will generally be inherited by child nodes, although they can be ignored through the Inherit Transform Channels attributes.

Toggle which transform channels should be inherited from the parent node. By default, all transforms will be inherited.

These properties control the core behaviours of the node.

Blend AmountControl the blend between the field lighting and the original field colours.
Blend ModeControl how the field blends with the field colours.
  • Replace : Replace the previous colours with the lighting from the field.
  • Linear Blend : Blend between the field lighting and the field colours.
  • Additive : Add the field lighting to the field colours.
  • Subtractive : Subtract the field lighting from the field colours.
  • Multiply : Multiply the field lighting with the field colours, darkening the values but maintaining the original colours.
Shadow DensityControl the density of field, and how much light will be allowed to filter through.
