Line Renderer

Render lines along the edges of geometry.



Method #

This node is used to render lines with thickness and antialiasing. Lines may be taken from wireframes of 3D objects connected via the Line Source Node input.

Lines are rendered as thickened quads with soft edges. Optionally smoke/laser-like effects can be achieved by applying some 3D fractal noise to modulate the transparency of the lines, using the Smoke Enabled attribute.


These properties control the 3D transforms of the node. Transforms will generally be inherited by child nodes, although they can be ignored through the Inherit Transform Channels attributes.

Toggle which transform channels should be inherited from the parent node. By default, all transforms will be inherited.

These properties control the core behaviours of the node.

ColourChange the colour value of the lines.
AlphaChange the alpha transparency value of the lines, making them appear see-through.
BrightnessControl the brightness of the lines.
VisibleControl whether the node is visible or not to the scene.
Sort BiasBiases the render order.
Depth BiasBiases the depth values generated by rendering the geometry, to make them less likely to be occluded by nearby 3D objects.
ThicknessControl the thickness of the lines.
Falloff PowerControl the rate of falloff of the line’s transparency from the centre of the line outwards.
Blend ModeControl how the lines are blended into the scene.
Thick LinesToggle whether the lines have 3D thickness.
ReflectionsDetermine whether lines should be rendered in reflection passes.
Reflection BrightnessScales the brightness of the lines in reflection passes.

These properites control a smoke effect over the lines.

Smoke EnabledEnables smoke effects on line rendering, by modulating line transparency with 3D fractal noise.
Smoke AlphaThe amount the smoke effect affects line transparency values.
Smoke ScaleThe Scale of the 3D fractal noise used to affect the lines.
