The User Interface #
For 1.0, we’ve rebuilt the UI from the ground up. You’ll find the core concepts are the same, but enhanced with a cleaner interface and new complimentary features.
Our Window docking solutions has been completely rewritten, so window arrangement should be fast and predictable.
We’ve added a new Transform tool for both the Curve Editor and the Timeline, making re-timing animations much easier.
The Viewport is now much more interactive, with picking now a shortcut away and a new placement tool to easily place objects in the scene.
The Nodegraph has seen some massive improvements across the board, from a new alignment system to floating search. You should find the nodegraph significantly more responsive, and much easier to work in.

Renderers #
Our lighting and rendering system has been completely overhauled with new nodes and massive improvements to both performance and quality. Rather than picking and choosing different render effects from the lighting nodes, you now have a choice of fully kitted render nodes, each one fully capable of rendering the scene - A dramatically streamlined workflow. With various controls for speed and quality levels, you can build the scene and pick the renderer which matches your performance goals.
For more information, check out the new Rendering page.
Assets #
Assets are a new concept for 1.0, the ability to package large node systems into a single shareable resource. Similar to bins from previous versions of Notch, but completely rebuilt from the ground up.
For more information on Assets, check out the new Assets page.
To convert 0.9.23 bins to 1.0, check out the bins section in our Project Migration Guide.
Project Migration #
Projects from pre-1.0 builds of Notch may not upgrade correctly when migrating to 1.0, so some caution is advised when opening old projects.
