Field Cloud Material

Field Cloud Material

Updated: 4 Dec 2023

A 3D field material suitable for smoke and cloud volumes, which shades solely based on density.

Method #

A 3D field material suitable for smoke and cloud volumes, which shades solely based on density. The Scattering parameter is used to control the ratio of scattering vs absorption. Clouds have high scattering, low absorption; smoke has low scattering and high absorption.

Parameters

These properties control the core behaviours of the node.

ParameterDetails
Tint Colour Tints the field.
Density Scales the density of the field.
Scattering The ratio of scattering vs absorption.
Scatter Mode The method of scattering.
  • Isotrophic : Uniform in all directions
  • Anisotrophic : None uniform
Scatter Anisotrophy How much none uniformity the scatting has.
Scattering Colour Controls the ratio of scattering vs absorption per colour channel.

The properties control the time at which the node is active. See Timeline for editing time segments.

ParameterDetails
Duration Control the duration of the node’s time segment.
  • Composition Duration : Use the length of the composition for the node’s time segment duration.
  • Custom : Set a custom duration for the node’s time segment.
Node Time The custom start and end time for the node.
Duration (Timecode) The length of the node’s time segment (in time).
Duration (Frames) The length of the node’s time segment (in frames).
Time Segment Enabled Set whether the node’s time segment is enabled or not in the Timeline.
