Image Affector

Image Affector

Uses an image to affect a field.

image

Method #

This node uses an input image to affect the movement vectors of a field system. The vectors can be derived from the gradient of the image’s luminance, or you can use optical flow to directly calculate and approximate the motion in the video.

The outputs from this node are just its transforms, useful for having multiple nodes follow the same motions without controlling each of their transforms individually.

Parameters

These properties control the 3D transforms of the node. Transforms will generally be inherited by child nodes, although they can be ignored through the Inherit Transform Channels attributes.

ParameterDetails
Position XMove along the local x-axis.
Position YMove along the local y-axis.
Position ZMove along the local z-axis.
Rotation HeadingRotate around the local y-axis.
Rotation PitchRotate around the local x-axis.
Rotation BankRotate around the local z-axis.
Scale XScale along the local x-axis.
Scale YScale along the local y-axis.
Scale ZScale along the local z-axis.

Control the inheritance of the transforms from the parent.

ParameterDetails
PositionToggle inheritance of the Position from the parent.
RotationToggle inheritance of the Rotation from the parent.
ScaleToggle inheritance of the Scale from the parent.
World Position OnlyInherit the world position from the parent only, rotation and scale will be ignored. Overrides above properties.
Inherit TimeToggle inheritance of time from the parent.

These properties control the core behaviours of the node.

ParameterDetails
Colour ImageAdd an image to drive the affector. Can be overwritten by an input image or video.
AmountChanges how much the image affects the field.
Blend ModeChoose how the image affects the field.
  • Solid : Each frame the current affector forces are replaced by the image affector forces.
  • Linear : Each frame the current affector forces are blended with the image affector forces.
  • Additive : Each frame the current affector forces are added to the image affector forces.
  • Subtractive : Each frame the current affector forces are subtracted from the image affector forces.
  • Multiply : Each frame the current affector forces are multiplied with the image affector forces.
Use As Bump MapUse the image as a bump map, so directionality is derived from the image luminance.
