Particle Bone Deformer

Particle Bone Deformer

Updated: 3 Feb 2025

Deforms geometry by allowing Particle Affectors to apply to the mesh bones

Method #

This node uses the forces from a particle system to affect the bones or chunks of an imported 3D Object.

Connect Particle Affector nodes as children to the Particle bone node to have them apply to the parent mesh.

Parameters

These properties control the core behaviours of the node.

ParameterDetails
Physics Velocity Dampening Dampen the changes in velocity applied to the vertices for smoother movement.
Fixed Update Rate Enabled Force the deformer to update at a fixed rate.
Fixed Update Framerate Choose what framerate the deformer is updated at. Only functions with Fixed Update Rate enabled
Terminal Velocity The maximum speed the deformer can move at before the mesh is distorted.
Motion Smoothing How much motion smoothing is done to the deformer.

These properties control how the particle motion applies to the mesh.

ParameterDetails
Deformer Amount How much the particles affect the deformer.
Deformer Velocity Amount How much the particle velocities affect the deformer.
Rotation Velocity Amount How much the vertices are rotated along with their velocities.
Rotation Randomness How much randomness is applied to their rotation speeds.
Sub-Bone Separation Start Distance at which the sub-bone separation begins.
Sub Bone Separation Randomness Randomness in the sub-bone separation.
Source Mode Select which part of the source mesh to deform based on.
  • Mesh Bones : The vertex deformations are applied to the armature bones of the mesh. A rigged mesh must be used for this to function.
  • Mesh Chunks : The vertex deformations are applied to the separated mesh pieces.
