Introduction #
While Notch 0.9.23 is our legacy version of Notch, it is still used on projects around the globe so the sunsetting of 0.9.23 will be gradual.
Notch 1.0 uses a new licensing system with a new set of plans (Indie, VFX & RFX), which includes software based licenses. We’ve worked to provide compatibility (where technically possible) to ease the transition between 0.9.23 and 1.0.
Specifically we’ve worked to ensure that AV focused users (on Pro or RFX) are able to edit and re-export blocks for their 0.9.23 projects.
Licenses that can run 0.9.23 and 1.0 software #
Below outlines the compatibility of licenses with 0.9.23 and 1.0 software.
Notch 1.0 and 0.9.23 require separate installers, which you can find in our downloads section.
To access 0.9.23 with an RFX license, you must use the latest 0.9.23 installer (0.9.23.254).
To use your RFX license to play back 0.9.23 Blocks (up to 4K), you must have exported the blocks with 0.9.23.254. To ensure exported blocks are compatible with any future playback licensing system changes, they must be exported from 0.9.23.254.

Purchasing Legacy Plans #
To further ease the transition, we are enabling the purchase of legacy subscription plans (Base & Pro) until 30 March 2025. Beyond this, we’ll continue to sell a fixed-term 6 month Base license until at least December 31 2025.
All Base & Pro plans come with a minimum term of 6 months and require a Codemeter Dongle (which you can optionally add at checkout).

Notch 1.0 has a much more capable trial version that you can use instead of the PLE license. This is where you should start your journey with Notch 1.0.
Beyond this, we will be contacting all historic PLE purchasers with an upgrade offer.
