Field Shadows

Adds lighting to a field from an axis.

Method #

This node lights and shades a field from one of the world axes, and is used in conjunction with the Field Renderer. As the lighting direction is limited to a single axis, this node is significantly faster than the similar Field Lighting node which allows multiple light sources with arbitrary positions and orientations.

The node should be parented to a Field Root node.

Parameters

These properties control the 3D transforms of the node. Transforms will generally be inherited by child nodes, although they can be ignored through the Inherit Transform Channels attributes.

ParameterDetails
Position XMove along the local x-axis.
Position YMove along the local y-axis.
Position ZMove along the local z-axis.
Rotation HeadingRotate around the local y-axis.
Rotation PitchRotate around the local x-axis.
Rotation BankRotate around the local z-axis.
Scale XScale along the local x-axis.
Scale YScale along the local y-axis.
Scale ZScale along the local z-axis.

Toggle which transform channels should be inherited from the parent node. By default, all transforms will be inherited.

ParameterDetails
Position XToggle inheritance of the X Position from the parent.
Position YToggle inheritance of the Y Position from the parent.
Position ZToggle inheritance of the Z Position from the parent.
Rotation HeadingToggle inheritance of the Rotation Heading from the parent.
Rotation PitchToggle inheritance of the Rotation Pitch from the parent.
Rotation BankToggle inheritance of the Rotation Bank from the parent.
Scale XToggle inheritance of the X Scale from the parent.
Scale YToggle inheritance of the Y Scale from the parent.
Scale ZToggle inheritance of the Z Scale from the parent.
World Position OnlyInherit the world position from the parent only, rotation and scale will be ignored. Overrides above properties.
Inherit TimeToggle inheritance of time from the parent.

These properties control the core behaviours of the node.

ParameterDetails
Blend AmountControl the blend between the field lighting and the original field colours.
Blend ModeControl how the field blends with the field colours.
  • Replace : Replace the previous colours with the lighting from the field.
  • Linear Blend : Blend between the field lighting and the field colours.
  • Additive : Add the field lighting to the field colours.
  • Subtractive : Subtract the field lighting from the field colours.
  • Multiply : Multiply the field lighting with the field colours, darkening the values but maintaining the original colours.
Light ColourTint the colour of any connected lights.
Light BrightnessControl the brightness of the lights into the field.
Shadow DensityControl the density of field, and how much light will be allowed to filter through.
Scatter AmountHow much the light scatters through the field colours. Low values will keep harsh shadow edges travelling through the fields, high values will make shadows spread out more diffusely.
Tint ColourTint the colour of the shadows.
Apply To Solid ObjectsToggle if field shadows are applied to the solid geometry.
Light DirectionControl which directional axis to use as a light source apply to the field.
Tempreture IntensityControl how much the tempreture of the simulaation affects the lighting of the field. Only functions with Densities and Tempretures selected in the Field Root.
Tempreture Fade PowerControl how the tempreture colours fade through the field. Only functions with Densities and Tempretures selected in the Field Root.
Tempreture Emissive ColourChoose a colour to emit light into the field based on the field tempretures. Only functions with Densities and Tempretures selected in the Field Root.
